Avocado is the fruit of the avocado tree (Persea Americana). It is a single-seeded berry and is often from Mexico or California.

Avocados, sometimes called “the mother fruit,” are also known as alligator pear or butter fruit. They contain monounsaturated fat, fiber, phytosterols and twenty nutrients and vitamins. The creamy flesh helps soothe your gut and provides an aspirin-like quality without thinning the blood.

Including healthy fats in our meals like avocado is important when it comes to keeping us feeling full and satisfied longer — fat takes longer to digest than carbs or protein.
